INSURANCE ADJUSTERS

Insurance adjusters investigate insurance claims to determine the legitimacy and value of the claim and recommend settlements. There are three types of insurance adjusters:

  • A company adjuster (often referred to as simply the "insurance adjuster") works for the insurance company.

  • Independent adjusters work for various insurance companies an independent agents rather than employees.

  • Public adjusters works for policyholders rather than insurance companies. They negotiate with insurers on behalf of policyholders, and receive a portion of a claims settlement.
