The laws governing common interest developments were revised and expanded in 1985 by passage of the Davis-Stirling Act (Civil Code §§1350-1377) which was named after the 2 assemblymen who sponsored the bill, Gray Davis and Larry Stirling. Since then, community association law has been one of the most active areas of the law in California (and the nation) with a large number of bills introduced into the California legislature each year.
