Following are sample rules for brush clearance for associations in wooded or
other high-risk fire areas.*
HIGHWAY, STREET, ALLEY, DRIVEWAY All brush,
weeds and grass shall be cut to 3" in height for a distance of 10' from all
highways, streets, alleys and driveways.(example)
GRASS, WEEDS and BRUSH
Grass
and weeds shall be cut to 3" in height
Selected native brush shall be trimmed up from the ground 1/3 of its
total height and be no closer than 18' from each other and structures, native
brush between shall be cut to 3" in height
All brush, weed and grass shall be cut to 3" in height for a distance
of 10' from all combustible fences (example)
TREES
Trees need not be spaced 18' apart
Branches must be trimmed up to 6' from the ground, all dead material
must be removed
Branches must be trimmed up to 5' from any roof, even if the branches
are from trees belonging to a neighbor which overhang on your property (example)
CHIMNEY Trees shall be trimmed so the
foliages is no closer than 10' from the outlet of the chimney.(example)
ROOF
Maintain roof surface free of
substantial accumulation of leaves, needles, twigs and all other combustible
material.
ALL CUT
VEGETATION
Cut vegetation shall be removed in a legal
manner
Cut vegetation may be machine processed
(chipped) and spread back onto the property
Chips shall not exceed 3' in depth within 30"
and 6" depth beyond 30' of any structure
Chips shall not be spread within 10' of any
usable roadway
