MARK A. O'BRIEN
Mark is an experienced litigator and
trial attorney specializing in complex business and
real estate litigation and appeals in both state and
federal courts. He has represented clients in
litigation involving contract and partnership
disputes, unfair business practices, sexual
harassment and wrongful termination, insurance bad
faith, and real estate disputes. He also has
represented homeowner associations in litigation
matters involving CC&R enforcement and directors’
fiduciary obligations.
Mark also has experience in international legal matters
involving patent
and trademark licensing, product liability protection, distribution agreements,
import-export transactions, overseas investments, and maritime shipping litigation.
He is fluent in French and has a working knowledge of
Spanish, Japanese and Korean.
Mark earned a
Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of
Oregon (Honors College), where he was Phi Beta
Kappa. This was followed by a Juris Doctorate from
the Boston University School of Law.
Mark's experience
includes services as Judge Pro Tem in the Los
Angeles Municipal Court and as an arbitrator in
numerous cases in Los Angeles County. Mark is
admitted to the State Bars of Massachusetts and
California, the U.S. District Court (Central,
Northern and Southern Districts), the U.S. Ninth
Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
